DST’S TECHNOLOGY
Dundee Sustainable Technologies has developed proprietary hydrometallurgical processes for the extraction of base and precious metals from ores, concentrates and tailings, which cannot be exploited with conventional processes because of internal refractoriness or environmental considerations.
FAST 1-2 hour contact time GREEN Mercury-free and cyanide-free process FLEXIBLE Economic not affected by base metals presence PROFITABLE Competitive process costs
▶ HIGH EXTRACTION YIELD THROUGH CHLORINATION
▶ CLOSED-LOOP IN TERM OF WATER
▶ THETFORD MINES PLANT - BUILT IN 2010
▶ ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC DUE DILIGENCE BY THE CANADIAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND QUEBEC GOVERNMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES
▶ No mercury or cyanide
▶ Closed-loop process with recycling of reagents
▶ Closed-loop process with recycling of water, eliminating the need for ponds and the risks of containment collapse
▶ No liquids or gaseous effluents
▶ Solid residues are sulphur and base metal depleted, not acid generating
BENEFITS FOR THE MINING INDUSTRY
▶ Environmentally friendly extraction process based on chlorination
▶ Technology developed for treatment of refractory ores
▶ Increasing social acceptability by promoting environmentally safe processes
▶ Advantageous capital costs
▶ Modular Implementation
AWARDS
▶ Programme de Démonstration de technologies Vertes, Gouvernement du Québec, Grant of $700K grant in 2012
▶ Sustainable Development Technology Canada, $5M Contribution in 2013
