Product description

These ropes have robust constructions in order to be

able to withstand the deployment and redeployment pro-

cess when the drilling unit shifts location from one explo-

ration job to the next. The ropes must be able to resist

crushing on the drum of multi-layered winches, bending

over fairleads, scraping along the sea bed, chaser dama-

ge and corrosion to mention a few of the extraordinary

rigours of anchoring.

Using one of the largest closing machines in the world,

Haggie can manufacture anchor lines as large as 150mm

in diameter in continuous lengths up to the equivalent of

120 tonnes per length.

Due to the rough handling anchor lines receive, its is

sometimes considered that a galvanised surface finish is

not warranted. This range of ropes is therefore available

as drawn-galvanised or ungalvanised.

For rope sizes of 77mm (3 in) and less a 6x36/IWRC

construction is recommended. For sizes greater than

77mm up to 90mm (3_ in), a 6x41/IWRC rope is offered

and for ropes with a diameter of 90mm to 103mm (4

in), 6x49/IWRC construction is available. For larger dia-

meter ropes the preferred construction is a 6x55/IWRC.

These constructions change as the rope size increases to

ensure that wires having appropriate properties for the

application are used.

Anchor Lines for Offshore Exploration

One of the world's largest closing machines - an inte-

gral part of Haggie's offshore capability.

All anchor line ropes are manufactured in right regular

lay to limit rope torque in service. Ropes of 103mm (4

in) diameter and less are available in IPS, EIPS and

EEIPS grades. The larger ropes in the 6x55/IWRC

construction are supplied in EIPS grade as a standard.

Higher breaking forces are available subject to negotia-

tions at time of enquiry


Anchor Lines for Offshore Exploration


Product description

The string of drill pipes is raised and lowered by means

of the drill line. This operation requires a rope construc-

tion with maximum resistance to abrasion and crushing

on the multi-layered drum.

The recommended rope is a 6x19/IWRC, EIPS grade,

right regular lay, ungalvanised.

The 9 large outer wires provide resistance to abrasion,

while the IWRC enhances crushing resistance as well as

contributes towards the rope breaking force. The right

regular lay reduces the tendency of the rope to build up

torque during the operation.

6x26C/IWRC UHP ropes have proved a major success in

rotary drilling applications.

An 8x19/IWRC rope construction has also been used

successfully for this application by some operators; the 8

strand construction provides superior fatigue life but the

smaller wires may adversely affect abrasion resistance.

Drill Lines


Product description

These ropes are used for anchor recovery and are sub-

ject to very severe operating conditions. They are subjec-

ted to continual vertical movement and consequent loca-

lised wear and fatigue in the part of rope nearest the

anchor. In addition heavy loads are normally applied to

the rope during the recovery of anchors working over the

stern roller of the work boat.

The recommended ropes for this application are

6x36/IWRC for rope diameters from 52mm to 77mm and

6x25/IWRC construction ropes for diameters below

52mm.

All ropes are supplied in EIPS grade, right regular lay and

drawn-galvanised finish.

Pennant lines can be supplied with mechanically spliced

eyes at both ends to enable connection to each other or

the buoy or anchor.

The rope details for the 6x25/IWRC construction are

given in the table for Rod and Tubing lines and the

details for the 6x36/IWRC construction are given in the

table for 6x37 class Anchor Line Ropes.
