Delaware Bioscience Association is a network of strong academic research organizations working
collaboratively with medical institutions and industry professionals to develop and commercialize
many of the blockbuster drugs and the most innovative diagnostics and medical devices found
in every part of the world. All members are within a one to two hour drive of each other.
Optical Sciences Center for Applied Research at Delaware State University is a NASA University
Research Center dedicated to the Exploration Systems, Science and Space Operation Mission
Directorate through research of Planetary Science, Space Communications & Navigation, and
AAstrobiology.
Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biology has gained broad recognition, and major funding
from the U.S. Department of Defense to develop vaccine candidates against bio-agents.
A Delaware congressional delegation partnered with the Center to win a $3.5 million appropriation
to continue this work.
BADER Consortium’s Wounded Warrior Program at the University of Delaware is an evidence-based orthopedic rehabilitation center for wounded warriors. The Consortium, which includes includes researchers, health professionals and physicians from the University of Delaware, Harvard Rehabilitation Hospital and many other healthcare industry leaders and institutions, was awarded a $19.5 million gmillion grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to research and develop orthopedic rehabilitation programs for wounded warriors and civilians with the goal of seeing each patient reach his or her optimal level of function.
