Creative Entrepreneur 2015 – Next Generation
The University of Salford’s mission to ‘transform lives, stimulate discovery and realise potential’ is reflected in Salford Business School’s commitment to support economic regeneration – regionally, nationally and internationally. Recognising the critical role small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play in innovation, advancement and sustainable development worldwide, connecting companies globally in 2015.
Throughout the year, Salford Business School (SBS) staff have focused their efforts on delivering expert advice, addressing skills gaps and facilitating access to finance, networks and resource opportunities for SMEs and large companies. At Salford Business School, there is a very strong commitment to employability skills and an emphasis on activity based learning with real world application. Internships are a proven way to inject new ideas and experience into a business – both the student and business benefit hugely.
A successful 2015 for Salford Business SchoolCelebrating our win of the Times Higher Education Business School of the Year Award 2014 and running the second Creative Entrepreneur event at MediaCityUK concluded a successful 2015 for Salford Business School.
“ Creative Entrepreneur summed up in three words: Epic, amazing, remarkable!”

Creative Entrepreneur - Next Generation 2015
Creative Entrepreneur represented a culmination and celebration of another amazing year and the creative ability and ingenuity of students and companies locally and internationally. Salford Business School welcomed over 40 guest speakers to the University’s state-of-the-art MediaCityUK campus to deliver an exciting programme of masterclasses, panel sessions and installations to inspire, inform and entertain.
We flew in global creative entrepreneur from Denver, Colorado, Cindy Krum, who opened the event with an incredible keynote speech to set the tone for the day. The event concluded with an incredible Tech Angels final where five student teams pitched and two Business School undergraduate students won the £1,000 prize with their innovative digital idea.
Nearly 500 people attended the free event including the next generation of talent. 178 SMEs registered for the event as well as 32 larger companies. The event has grown once again with an additional 140 people attending the event this year - both student and company numbers have increased from previous years. Sessions were recorded and live streamed, creating an incredible online buzz and reaching the social media timelines of many tens of thousands of people.
Fourteen sessions were held in either The Egg Suite or Digital Performance Lab at our MediaCityUK campus between 9:00am and 5:00pm. This was followed by a VIP event open to all speakers and SBS special guests to say thank you for working with and supporting us.
“ It was a privilege to be part of #CreativeEnt, great advice on offer.” Micheal John Hornby, Student

• Very professional, our interests were number one priority.
• The event was really well organised.
• Interesting insight into sports business.
• Some really interesting thoughts discussed about the EU referendum.
• Great panel and key digital startup tips.
• If you couldn’t make it into a session, I liked how it was available to watch and listen to in the reception through a live stream.
• Very good atmosphere. Busy. Good venue. Friendly.
• Everyone was really welcoming. The speakers were more than happy to take questions even on their break times. Great location and use of the building. A really well put together event - a great combination of professionalism and positivity.
• The campus is amazing, the surroundings are brilliant, MediaCityUK has a great buzz.
• The variety of sessions, mix of academics and industry perspectives were brilliant! I like the idea of MediaCityUK as a location - certainly all visitors say WOW when they come in!
Suggestions for improvements
• Speed networking sessions could have been better announced and promoted.
• Larger and better room than the Egg Suite.
• Longer event with longer sessions.
