The SAIT Students’ Association (SAITSA) is student owned, operated, and self- sustaining. Since 1922, its has represented the students of SAIT Polytechnic by acting as the voice of the student body, within the institution and externally. SAITSA brings awareness about student issues, organizes events and provides resources for students. All of the association’s activities and services are designed to meet the unique needs of students. SAITSA supports a campus which contributes to the well-being and success of all students by cultivating a community where they are inspired to learn, lead and be exceptional. Background The governing body of the SAITSA provides strategic direction for the organization. It is composed of 20 members elected for a one calendar year term. Four of these members are Executives, elected in the winter semester. Fifteen of these members are student representatives elected in the fall semester. The board is responsible for overseeing student affairs and the promotion of the general welfare of the students consistent with the purposes of the public post-secondary institutionas outlined in the Post-Secondary Learning Act legislated by the Province of Alberta. Board of Directors (BOD) Have a minimum of 10 individuals register for a one-on-one mentorship program by January 2017. Increase guest attendance at BOD monthly meetings to 2 guest per meeting for a total of 10 meetings. Increase number of BOD candidates-in-contention to 25 by September 22, 2017. Improve voter turnout rate for fall election to 12% by October 6, 2017. OBJECTIVES Giving students tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth.
