DND/CF ITVCurrent Situation

Supply System (CFSS) - Bar Code enabled

Transportation System (NMDS) – Bar Code enabled

Consignments are built in CFSS, transitioned to NMDS and assigned a Canadian TCN (NATO Shipping Label).

Consignments are then tracked within NMDS until POD.

CT with RFID Project Basic Project Requirements

To provide an automated Consignment Tracking capability :

- to enhance consignment tracking in support of Operation Athena (Canadian Support in Afghanistan).

- to provide near real-time visibility of materiel moving from Canada to theatre of operations in Kandahar and back.

- that is compatible with the US ITV (RFID enabled) system.

- that does not replace the current National Movement and Distribution System (NMDS).

1st Step : ITV DND/CF is striving to develop a national ITV solution

that is flexible for operational needs and tempo and for evolving AIT.

DND/CF remains committed to working with our primary international allies (USA, UK, AS, NATO) to develop a multinational capability to track consignments and items in-transit.
