Sustainability

Corporate Responsibility is a core focus for the success of GPT.

The benchmark ESD (ecologically sustainable development) initiatives of Rouse Hill Town Centre provide a spectacular example of GPT’s commitment to reducing our impact on the environment.

After its first year of operation, Rouse Hill Town Centre reduced its ecological footprint by 32% compared to a standard NSW regional shopping centre.

Add to this the recycled and sustainable materials used in construction and operation, and the result is a significant reduction in carbon emissions. Throughout its life, Rouse Hill Town Centre will continue to strive to reduce its impact on the environment.

Sustainability

A great example of this is the Green Travel Club, which is facilitated by a transport coordinator and encourages staff to take public transport, car pool, walk or cycle to work.

It is our hope that visitors to Rouse Hill Town Centre will pass on the learnings we share with them to their friends, families and colleagues.

As you walk around Rouse Hill Town Centre, you will find plaques that form part of the Healthy Town Walk. Schools, business, community groups and visitors alike are invited to follow the trail and learn of the exciting and innovative steps Rouse Hill Town Centre has made to reduce its footprint. Participants can pick up tips on how to reduce their own impact on the planet.

Tenants

All retailers at Rouse Hill Town Centre have enthusiastically embraced our sustainability initiatives. In fact, each store has an Ecological Footprint Calculator, developed by GPT, to help them keep their energy and water level usage low.

Although Rouse Hill Town Centre in many ways is different from a typical regional shopping centre, it still relies on critical retail fundamentals including strong, well located majors, good accessibility, convenient car parking and a good retail plan.

Consistent with the demands of the trade area, the retail mix includes a strong focus on quality fresh food, eating options and homewares, with fashion and lifestyle/entertainment elements.
