A review of various community feedback methods (ICE, Facebook, emails, etc.) for the month of Jan 2014 has identified the following issues of general interest to the community. The purpose of this brief is to provide further clarification to those comments.

• Comment 1: Not enough parking for the walk-thru gate (Gate 4) and Zama High School. There are only 11 parking spaces at Gate 4 and it is a huge inconvenience to park anywhere else.

• Comment 2: The routes the MWR Narita bus takes to and from the airport are too long. It took 3 hours to get there while the bus from the Sagami Ono train station service takes 1 hour and 50 min. Don’t enforce sponsors to make an upfront payment for new Soldiers PCSing in.

•Comment 3: DPW Assignment of Family Housing – Soldiers and family being housed in old quarters on SHA with children while couples with a dog, and no children were placed in new housing with more bedrooms.

Narita Bus Program FeedbackComment 2

Outdoor Recreation policy has been updated so that Sponsors may now make reservations for families they sponsor and these reservations can by paid by the incoming family when they arrive in country. Sponsors are not required to pay for a PCS-in families’ Narita Bus Reservation costs.

The Narita Bus operates on two basic routes, one that goes to Yokohama via route 16 and skirts around the outside of Tokyo, the other passes directly through Tokyo on the way to Narita Airport. The reason for the variance between the MWR Narita Bus program and the Sagamiono Narita Bus program is the Sagamiono Bus starts from Sagamiono while our bus starts from Camp Zama, then must proceed to Sagamihara Housing area for customer pick up. Furthermore, the Sagamiono Bus operators have access to a system of live operators constantly update traffic conditions and are passing information between bus operators while our drivers only are able to plan a route before they depart based on information available to them at the time.

Housing Management Division Assignment of Family Housing

Comment 3• At the time of offer, applicants will generally only be offered the first available housing unit on their respective wait list and applicable bedroom category. However, if multiple units are available in applicant’s category, no more than two units will be offered per USAG-J Cir 420-1.

• When an applicant is placed on his/her respective wait list for applicable bedroom category and the wait time is beyond 60 days, housing may offer one bedroom more than that which the applicant qualifies for. This type of offer will only be provided to Families when availability of the Army Family Housing (AFH) inventory permits. Applicants on the waiting list with true larger bedroom requirements will have priority per USAG-J Cir 420-1.
