Communication in an organization carries innumerable kinds of messages which may be difficult to map out; but it may be possible to classify communications in regard to how to transmit, or who communicates to whom or what kind of relationships communication develops.
FORMAL COMMUNICATION Communication through chain of commands. Closely associated with a formal organizational
structure. Communication flows through formal channels.

INFORMAL COMMUNICATION
In an organization communication may flow inter-scale or intra-scalar.
Inter-scalar-When it flows between two persons at different managerial levels.
Intra-scalar- When it flows between persons at the same hierarchical level.
VERTICAL COMMUNICATION It constitute the Upward and Downward
Communication.
