Coidak Panel Light reviews

I've installed too many recessed can lights in my day. I say too many because I've always found them a major pain in the neck to install. If you're working with new construction, it's not so bad: just run the wires, install the lights between the joists, then cut the drywall to fit over the light's circular opening. With old construction and remodels, you have to cut a large hole in the drywall, install the light (and often wiring), then create a drywall patch that is the size of your opening minus the circular light opening. I've always found this to be a major pain in the behind.

This light was very easy to install, on the other hand. I just cut the circular hole, connected the wires with wire nuts, and popped the light in the hole. Now, if you're looking for BIG ILLUMINATION via overhead spots, this light might not be the one for you. Instead, it offers a nice subtle LED light. But as for ease of installation on remodels, this light is a dream for any contractor or DIYer.

I'm guessing we'll see more of these in the future, as they're much easier to install than the old can lights that need to be screwed to your joists or wedged in place via an expander. These simply clip to the drywall around the hole and they're so light that there is no drywall sag whatsoever.

The inventor of can lights has a LOT to answer for. When I added a bath ten years ago, the builder put a "can" over the walk-in shower. He was proud of himself for steering me towards trendy lighting. If I had known anything about them, I never would have agreed to it. Since then I've heard horror stories about people moving into their "dream homes" with hundreds of can lights and using flashlights to navigate. I love everything about that bathroom EXCEPT the can light.

Swapping it out for this round LED panel was as easy as anything can be. It's true that I wouldn't have undertaken the job myself, but my sister has done wiring on Habitat houses and she had no trouble at all. Flip the breaker, pry the old can out of the hole, disconnect the wiring. connect the wiring on the Coidak LED light, and use the springs to hold it onto the drywall. It fit the existing hole with no modifications and the flange covers the cut edges of the drywall. Finito.

For my money, a 12watt LED light is a good light. It's so nice to be able to see when I use that shower. Sure I know where all my body parts are (I ought to, by this time) but I still like having a light I can see by.

The light fixture is a 6.7' round --very thin disk, that contains very bright LED's. Its is very light weight, and very easy to install. Its perfect for closets, or locations that need more lighting, and either have a light fixture that is inadequate or you want to change to cheaper LED lighting, or add an additional light fixture.

The instructions are very limited--but looking at this--you will notice two springs on the backside. This is nice becuase you do not have to use any screws or electrical box to install this. You cut a hole (per instructions) and the springs hold it in place.

If you were to replace a light fixture--you would change the wires from the old to the new (this)--make sure the switch is off (light is off) and you can use the hole that the old fixture used (it might require minor modifications).

If you ADD this to the other light fixture--you would cut the hole, and wire this into the other light fixture. If you do not know how to do this, then you will have to get someone who does to help you or do it for you. Its not hard, but it does require some specific knowledge and experience to do it right.

It provides very bright, heat free, light, and is great---the LED will last for hundreds of thousands of hours--and in my case, I am replacing a light fixture that is difficult to change the bulb---this will solve a couple problems, 1- expensive incandescent light, 2- Hot --high heat output of light bulb, 3- very difficult light bulb to change.

this will solve those and other problems. Once installed, it will give you many years of trouble free very inexpensive lighting.

This is perfect! I was looking for a way to improve the lighting in my bedroom over my computer desk and this was an affordable option to go with. The downside is the installation process as you will need to cut a hole in the area you want this, in our case the ceiling. So be sure to measure carefully and accurately. Then you need to wire it up properly. Thankfully my husband knows how to do all that otherwise it wouldn't have gotten done.

The light is light weight, was easy to install for my husband, but not something an average joe who knows nothing about electrical, like myself, could do. While the light is not super bright, it does provide a nice extra bit of lighting that I needed over my desk in the evening times.

Thank you!
