1. Introduces us to ourselves, if we want to know ourselves.• Adversity always gets our attention, we can’t ignore

it.• Adversity is an opportunity for self-discovery.• Many choose to hide, remember Sgt. Schultz, I know

nothing….• It can strike when I am exhausted, when I’ve gotten

2. It is a BETTER TEACHER than success, if we want to learn from Adversity..• Tragedy is when we avoid learning from adversity.• Even more tragic is not wanting to learn from adversity.

3. It Opens doors for New Opps, If we want to learn from Adversity...• Does adversity get you down, or get you looking for

opportunities?• Any significant change in business is an opportunity for a

new business.• Success from Adversity or poor economic times:

• Ivory Soap – 1870 – Mistake – Over-whipped – Easier to find

• Boeing’s 707 – 1957 – tough economic times• FedEx – Founded 1973 – tough economic times• MS Dos – 1981 – IBM didn’t want it• Apples IPOD - 2001

4. It can signal a positive transition if you respond correctly.• Your life is comprised of one transition after another.• Being static in life is NOT an option• Time is always moving forward – you can’t stop it, you

can’t stop the effects of it moving forward.• James Allen: “Let a person rejoice when he is confronted

with obstacles, for it means that he has reached the end of some particular line of indifference or folly.”
