Merger & Acquisitions

March 2003:DHL entered into a definitive merger agreement with the US based express parcel delivery provider Airborne, Inc. This transaction increased market shares and profitability of both partners, hence creating a strong presence in the US market to compete with the dominating players.

November 2004:India’s biggest logistics company- Blue Dart- was acquired by DHL to increase its presence in India. After the acquisition both the company continue using their own brand names. The deal was about $162 million.

November, 2004:DHL and Newgistic have entered into partnership to offer retail merchandise return solution-Smart Label- for DHL customers. Smart Label addresses the reverse logistics needs of multi-channel retailers. Newgistic, Inc. (www.newgistics.com) is the leader in returns management solutions for the direct retail industry.

December 2005:Deutsche Post World Net has also acquired Exel. The combination of the two companies creates the global No. 1 in sea freight, ocean freight and contract logistics.

March 2015:DHL, global logistics provider, has acquired German logistics business of pharmaceuticals company STADA with a deal to manage the logistics activities and sites of the pharmaceutical company in Florstadt and Bad Vilbel, near Frankfurt/Main.
