CASE STUDY ON DOORDHARSHAN
INTRODUCTION
Doordharshan was founded in 15 September 1959 with a small transmitter and a makeshift studio.
The DD provides television, radio, online and mobile services throughout metropolitan and regional India, as well as overseas through the Indian Network and Radio India.
Doordarshan's regional stations were networked using INSAT 1A and a national feed called national programme was introduced.
Rangoli is the oldest programme on DD National, dedicated to Classic Hindi songs.

STRENGTHS DD was the monopoly
player It was earning 100% profit It is one of the largest
broadcasting organisations in the world in terms of the infrastructure of studios and transmitters.

WEAKNESS Strict rules have been
made to make a channel less creative.
They are telecast only few social programmes.
It is one of the cheapest channel.
No presence on internet to provide broadcasted programmes
90% saturated in the Indian market, no visibility elsewhere
OPPORTUNITIES Buying exclusive rights
of major events. It also had three tier
programme services for national local and regional…
Need to be more vibrant and commercial.
Online media access may allow an interested audience across the world to expand their market share.
THREATS Existence of number of
channels. Private channels turning
into HD quality are attracting viewers.
Development of internet in the modern generation.
Advancement in education.
Rigid format of programmes and stringent norms make viewer dispassionate about Doordarshan
2.WHAT WOULD BE YOUR RECOMMANDATION TO DOORDHARSHAN? Programmes should be
interesting They should try to
spend more money on award shows.
The logo of doordharshan should be attractive.
Cultural programmes should be reduced.
The picture clarity should be good.
CONCLUSIONWe would like to conclude
by saying that : It has a ability to
educate the poor farmers .
It also help the poor students in their education and also the uneducated.
It also touches the lines of success through providing innovative programmes.
