2. Did you do anything wrong this morning in the meeting?

In my opinion there was nothing wrong in the meeting except that the employer

did not get the permission to record the meeting , also that the individual giving

the lecture was not aware of the employers intension about using his smartphone.

3. At what point does impolite behavior- for instance, actions that might offend

others, such as answering e-mails during meetings or even playing games-

cross the line into unethical behavior?

Smartphones in the workplace can lead to many unethical impolite behaviors. In

meetings, smartphones can be one of the main distracting tool in the meeting and

during presentation as the individual might play with him phone and don’t

attention or might chat or do many other staffs which cross the work track in the

workplace. In any other work place, the worker might use the organization time

which he is paid for in playing or doing his personal staffs by the use of

smartphones which is really impolite behavior and unethical since it decrease the

efficiency and productivity which the organization invest for.

4. What type of policy would you suggest for an organization regarding the use

of smartphones in the workplace, if any?

With the rate that employees are bringing smart phones into the corporate scene,

immediate action needs to happen to create policies outlining the business and

professional uses allowed within the organization. And in the policy employees

should be allowed to use their phones at certain times during the day and in case

of emergencies. Also they should be able to use them during meetings and other

events only for work purpose such as recording or writing notes with the

permission of the person giving the lecture or the event.

5. Should the rules be different for using smartphones during in-house

meetings, on one hand, and during meetings with clients or suppliers, on the

other?

In our point of view, we think yes there be certain rules for using smartphones

during in-house meeting, on one hand and during meetings with clients and

suppliers. As the must be a different special SIM and phone for the work purpose

which must be monitored by the organization as in case of any breach or unethical

behavior they can know why it happened. Also it’s for the company to know if he

is spending the time for personal use or for the sake of the work and organization.

The organization must introduce a rule that the worker must use other than

smartphones if they are too distracted and against the smartphones so it is helpful

for the worker as much as smartphone.

6. How might you have acted differently during the meeting described here to

have achieved a different result with your client?

In the following meeting I would have asked permission from the person giving

the meeting to use my phone to record the meeting to make it easier when

recapping the major points of the meeting.

7. What are you about to say to your boss?

I would tell my boss that this is an important call from a client that we would not

be willing to lose, and it is very important for me to take this call and it’s much

important for me as it’s important for the organization.
