Challenge your negative thinking. Tell yourself hopeful stories about what’s happening in your life. First, be kind to yourself, then be kind to others. Maintain perspective, it's not always about you. Keep strong connections to significant people, causes and faith/spirituality. Do something every day that has for real meaning for you. Use your character strengths at home and work. Be grateful for what you have. Compare yourself to those that have less than you, rather than more. Focus on the good things that are happening every day in your life. When things are tough, look for how to accept it, what you can learn, and what opportunities arise. Exercise regularly and get enough sleep. Persevere but remain open minded and flexible. Ask for help, even when it feels awkward. Help others, especially when you are also struggling. Choose joy especially in the face of disappointment, and love, stress, heartache, hardship and disruptive change. © Rod Warner and Associates, 2014
