“The BOF is not a sales event. It is a decidedly peer-to-peer conversation.
Often those with the quietest voices will be saying the most interesting things. We would do well to listen. All of us here in one way or another are tinkering with some fundamental forces of nature; Individual human creativity and a society’s need and resistance
to change…
In a sense we are attempting to he “hackers” of the otherwise natural phenomenon of human invention. Much like primitive man once struggled to harness forces beyond his control like: raging rivers, electricity, and flame to the benefit of all that would come
after him.
It is in this spirit that we come together. In an environment where the perspectives of anyone who shares these core values are welcome.
We gather as intellectually curious observers. Guided by the framework of science and experimentation; but not to the exclusion of hunches, impressions and intuition. For much of the science in this field has yet to be written.
Our focus is not self-interest, personal or corporate agendas, but explicitly “progress in the field of innovation”. In understanding it’s underlying structure, patterns and idiosyncrasies.
While we will stay informed on the latest developments in academia, we approach the subject as practitioners in applying this new knowledge to real world situations.”

Michele EggerInnovation Capability Operations
Michele has been described by her peers as someone who successfully leverages a blend of skills including empathy, enthusiasm, positivity, creativity and “business street-wise common sense.” She believes this stems from growing up a tomboy in the Midwest (actually a suburb ~30 minutes from here called Burbank). She worked in a factory to pay for her education and obtained her Bachelors in Sociology with an emphasis on Criminal Justice and Psychology. Twenty plus years ago, after a
stint in Juvenile Probation as a Deputy Probation Counselor, Michele began her Chevron journey as a shift technician in the Fuels Lab. She moved up and spent 6 years with the Oronite Additives
Division where an aptitude for documentation and training began to emerge. She transitioned to Corporate HR Global Workforce Development Group that included application of leading-edge
technologies to accelerate and nurture learning and development. Her creative approach led to an Innovation mentorship opportunity and a position in Downstream Marketing to promote and foster a
Climate of Ingenuity. She continues to hone her innovation skills in ITC where she manages all aspects of an Innovation Service Program including the operations of a very successful
collaboration facility – the Innovation Zone. Michele is inspired by the innocence and creativity of kids, her favorite quote is by Suzuki: "In the eyes of a beginner all things are possible, in the eyes of an expert only a few." She challenges you to see the possibilities and then have the courage to do
something about it!
