Basic kitchen cleaning guidelines
You don’t have to be a cooking expert
to know that the kitchen is one of the
most visited places in the entire house.
Whenever you want to fix a quick a
snack or attend a family meal
gathering, you go to the kitchen to
enjoy some time there.
Since it is such a frequently visited room, it should be maintained clean and tidy at all times.
Of course, it is not always easy to do that. If you are no home cleaning enthusiast, you may
feel lost as to how to tackle the kitchen effectively. Well, that is what the following tips are
for – to give you a basic understanding of the process so that you have an easier time with
this chore.
- Understand the everyday cleaning chores – unfortunately, if you want to keep your
kitchen spick and span, you will need to address certain chores on a daily basis. That
is a must to ensure that there aren’t any dirty spots and unhygienic areas. So what
should you do every single day? For starters, you need to wipe down your sink area,
after the dishes are done. Then, move on to the stove top and counters. Finish with a
very quick mopping of the floor. In total, this should take you no more than 5
minutes, as it is pretty basic and quick; don’t invest hours in backbreaking work.
- Prepare with enough cleaning materials – the main thing about cleaning the kitchen
is keeping the right supplies nearby. Place a trash bag in your bin so that you throw
stuff directly in the bag instead of making a mess of your bin. You will spare yourself
a lot of cleaning effort that way. Additionally, make sure you have disinfectant wipes
nearby, so that you can clean the surfaces after preparing a meal. It is super quick
and easy that way.
- Use your dishwasher for more tasks – now, the first thing that comes in mind when
the word dishwasher is mentioned is cleaning glassware and cutlery. However, that
appliance can be your best friend when it comes to cleaning all of the following:
plastic toys, sponges, refrigerator drawers, combs and brushes, knobs and burner
grids, drain catches, plastic utensil organisers and many more.
- Check out your cabinets – the more cabinets you have, the more you will want to
load them with cooking supplies. Sometimes you may forget about an expiry date
only till you smell an unpleasant odour spreading through the kitchen and other parts
of your home. To avoid this unpleasant scenario, be sure to clear out the cabinets
from time to time. Take out all items on the inside and check food for expiry dates.
Wipe down the insides and the outside of cabinets with a soapy rag to tackle most of
the crumbs and dust. That ought to keep it all clean.
Cleaning the kitchen shouldn’t be too difficult, once you establish a routine. Keep all of the
necessary materials nearby and stay focused on the task. That way you will keep the room
clean at all times.
