The art of collecting has transformed from what

it was just a few years ago. Formality has given way

to flexibility, and today, we live amongst our collections. The severity of yesterday has been ingeniously replaced by a playful, and lighthearted fusion of genres.

It is no longer just about preservation, or amassing a collection, but incorporating this interest into one’s daily life. Antiques and ‘objets trouvés’ form part of our everyday existence, and embellish the joys of life, and of living. Asian art, vintage design, and Louis XV furniture create remarkable interiors; there is pleasure in owning and driving a classic

car, and delight in selecting a vintage watch to suit the occasion. For the cultural and the curious, Auctionata shows that originality and history are not the only
