DESCRIPTION
It is a statement that describes how you will do business. Alternatively, your vision is how your business will look in the future once your mission has been executed successfully. However, the work doesn't stop with the last word you might type of your mission or vision. Are Your Vision and Mission Still Aligned?
Creating a mission and vision for your small business can sometimes feel more difficult than any of the other monumental tasks such as securing funding or developing a product plan.
It is important to consistently re-visit your mission statement to ensure that it continues to align with your vision.
How Statements Change• If your mission statement should be
considered dynamic in order to adjust to the constantly changing business environment.
• As your business progresses, it might be discovered that your team is falling behind in sales compared to your competitors.
The Danger of Change• At times, implementing change is done
without the right root cause analysis.
• For example, an organization may think that it is innovation holding their product back from the sales their competitors are achieving, but it may in fact be a quality issue with their product.
Driving the right message throughout your business is critical as well as the only way to ensure you are staying on task.
You will be helping your business to stay focused by making it a process to continually review your mission or vision. You may also be alerted to deviations from your goals and can alter the path accordingly.
A well defined mission statement and vision is also the tool that will help to guide your employees towards your overall business strategy.
