Apprenticeships in Melbourne
A nationally recognised apprenticeship/traineeship is an ideal way to
combine training and employment. Anyone of working age can
apply, whether they are school leavers, students, or mature-age
people wanting to re-enter the workforce or are seeking a career
change.
You are paid while doing training that is structured to be either on-the-job, off-
the-job, or a combination of both.
Because the training is competency-based, you can complete your training
faster once you reach the required level of skill.
Apprenticeships and traineeships can be shared between host employers.
School-based Apprenticeships are also available part-time allowing you to enter
the workforce while completing your secondary education.
Your past experience and existing skills are recognised, and can potentially
reduce your training time if course credits are granted.
Benefits
A pre-apprenticeship course is a stepping stone to get into the industry of your choice. It provides a blend of theory and hands on experience in a simulated workplace environment.Completion of a pre-apprenticeship course will help to:
• Prepare you for the working environment in the selected industry.• Give you some basic skills or improve your existing skills.• Pave the way for the learning you will get as part of your apprenticeship.
Pre-apprenticeship courses may be undertaken part-time while you are still at school (as part of VET in Schools) or after you have completed school.
Pre-Apprenticeship
Apprenticeships are also a beneficial way of sourcing staff for your
business. As they are learning on the job you have control over their
development and progression. Being involved in the education of
your employees allows you to build a skilled workforce from within
your business.
