IP Surveillance Advantage

CCTV IP Camera

Resolution D1(720 × 486 NTSC) normally.

HD CCTV is available but HD

DVRs are rare and expensive.

Megapixel, 2MP, and unlimited

upgradability.

Media and Cabling Coaxial Cable with

BNC/Composite connector

Ethernet, Power over Ethernet,

Wireless, Broadband, Internet

Data Security None Encryption and VPN available

Recording Device Dedicated DVR which gets

more expensive with HD, IP,

and more channel options.

Can use Camera’s built-in recording,

NVR, or PC with Recording Software

Installation Environment Close community installations

within the cabling limit of the

CCTV system.

Can install in any indoor, outdoor, city

wide, national wide environments.

Image Processing Require changing equipment

and/or customized software

Simply change the software on the

recording PC to upgrade.

Mobile Viewing Require expensive DVR with

IP capability or install CCTV to

Video Server

Can view directly to IPCAM or NVR

from any mobile browser.

IP Advantage

Page 4: Airlive Ipcam Seminar 1

CCTV Advantage

CCTV IPCam

Lens Cost Since CCTV lens is

just a pure analogue

optical device, ist cost

is low

Although CCTV has lower

cost for lens. The entire

CCTV system including DVR,

IP capability, and intelligence

can run higher than IP.

Stability CCTV system is

normally very stable.

That’s why you need a

reliable IP surveillance

solution from AirLive who has

tightly integrated software

and hardware solution

Compatibility CCTV lens and DVR

are compatible

between

manufacturers.

With the support of the

ONVIF this year. The IPCAM

compatibility will be much

better.

Power over Ethernet switch provide both Data and Electricity to the IP Cameras.

So only single cable is needed. In addition, the 802.3af PoE standard uses 48V

electricity which can provide up to 100 meter of cabling distance.

AirLive IPCAMs use mostly 802.3af PoE spec. The Pan-Title Camera and Outdoor

cameras uses about 10 watt each, while the other cameras uses 4 to 5 watt each.

Therefore, the AirLive PoE switch supplies enough power per channel.

NVR (Network Video

Recorder)

Description IPCam can send motion

detection recording

directly to a file server. Or

to the SD card on the

IPCAM if available.

AirLive comes with free

recording software

Campro that you can

installed on your PC. It

can record up to 64

camera at a time

NVR is usually a network storage

device with recording software

built-in. It can be accessed

through web browser.

Advantage No need for dedicated PC.

Able to record events.

Powerful and feature rich.

Can record multiple

channels at a time.

Multiple monitor support.

Easy to use and low cost. Setup

and forget. Able to record multiple

cameras(up to 16) at a time.

Disadvantage Only able to record events.

No continuous recording.

If camera is vandalized,

records might be lost

Require dedicated PC

that have powerful CPU

and video card to handle

multi-channel recording.

Not as powerful as PC based

recording software.

Recommended

Environment

For home or small shops

with one camera only.

For larger installations

such as large

communities, school, and

factories.

Suitable for all environments.

Scalable from 4 cameras to 16

cameras. Just install more NVR if

more than 16 is required.

Best

Combination

Use PC Based Recording software or NVR. Also set event recording on IP Camera for

redundancy.

NVR can handle up to 16 camera recording at the time. However, the resolution,

image quality, and motion movements can influence the frame rate. The lowest

FPS shows all cameras in best quality and constant object movements. We

recommend using Quality 6 recording which can keep the system at best balance.

11a/n 1T1R 75mbps 55Mbps 21Mbps

11a/n 2T2R 120mbps 70Mbps 25Mbps

The wireless bandwidth depends on the distance and wireless standard. In general, the

5GHz frequency spectrum has less interference which provides more stable bandwidth

for mission critical applications such as IP Surveillance. The following table shows

wireless bandwidth tested at foggy conditions. Snow and heavy rain can reduce the

bandwidth by half. In general, the 11a/Super-A/Super-A with Static Turbo holds the

bandwidth better over longer distance and in bad weather conditions. The advantage for

11n disappears after 1km and in bad weather.

Page 74: Airlive Ipcam Seminar 1

You can find the Bandwidth Requirement using the calculator program from AirLive.

By calculating bandwidth vs. wireless throughput. You can decide find out how

many cameras you can support on each CPE. It is advised to leave 50% bandwidth

for interference and rain factory. For example, if you use Super-A mode at 1km

distance. You can safely support about 7 MegaPixel IP Cameras.

Connecting Camera with Outdoor AP

Page 77: Airlive Ipcam Seminar 1

A large wireless network deployment typically consist of AP network and Bridge

network. AP network is between Base Station and CPE. Bridge network is for

connections between Base Stations. Using this method, you can have much better

control over bandwidth. So as the network gets larger, it won’t slow down.

Page 78: Airlive Ipcam Seminar 1

We can create a network of redundancy for Bridge network by using the multi-point

WDS with STP spanning tree. So when one link failed, the network can go through

another path to reach destinations..

Page 79: Airlive Ipcam Seminar 1

The AP+Bridge hybrid network offer the most efficient topology for

the wide area outdoor deployment of IPCAM network
