Absolute LoJack Gives Police Info for Fast Recoveries Vehicles are one of the most common places that laptops are stolen from. Cars and laptops simply do not mix. There is no good reason to ever leave your laptop in a car (even a trunk) – it’s like leaving out cash, ready for the taking.

This summer, an Absolute LoJack customer's vehicle was broken into and all belongings were taken, including a laptop. Just two days later, the laptop went online and we were on the case. As often happens, the laptop went offline for a period of time, so we waited for it to connect again - this time about two weeks later. We were very quickly able to identify the user of the stolen laptop, preparing an Investigative Summary for local police - our document providing enough information for a warrant or later prosecution.

Within 4 hours of receiving our report, the detective on the case went to the location we specified and the laptop was recovered without incident.

Since recovery is only part of the story, we know from police interviews that the laptop was given to the user we identified by a family member, who was later interviewed. This family member purchased the laptop from a known suspect in the area, who was later positively identified in a photo lineup. The burglary suspect was arrested.

The laptop was recovered 3 weeks after it was stolen. Had Absolute LoJack not been on the case, it's most likely this laptop never would have been recovered and this suspect never would have been arrested.
