A comprehensive note on the advantages of architectural, structural and MEP models The trend of developing 3D digital models for building projects became popular after the adoption and utilization of BIM in Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry. The concept of Building Information Modeling evolved approximated three decades ago but its rapid use in AEC Industry started only in the last few years. Before that AEC firms used to find it difficult to accommodate BIM software which used to be considered quite costly. But as gradual advancements are taking place in technological sector, software technology used in construction business is becoming cheaper and accessible to design and construction professionals. And due to that today every AEC firm is equipped with high end tools and technology which help them in delivering effective engineering solutions to clients during preconstruction. Development of digital models for architecture, structure and MEP is not a difficult thing today as engineering service providing companies can manage to maintain high end software such as AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max and Navisworks etc. Building design software Revit which is created by American software manufacturing company Autodesk is utilized by design and construction professionals’ world over for developing 3D models. When it comes to reinforcing coordination, collaboration and visualization during design development Revit is a leader in that. With the assistance of high coordination and collaboration between design members during design development extremely factual 3D models are created for different disciplines. Multidiscipline 3D models are very important for different building stakeholders (architects, engineers, contactors, owners and fabricators etc.) for taking constructive decisions that can increase the productivity of the project. For example, construction management becomes highly convenient for contractors when they extract crucial information such as material takeoffs and bill of material which creates awareness among contractors about the use of materials in exact quantities. When contractors get to know about quantities of materials that are necessary for accomplishing the project they can buy the materials in exact amounts which helps in minimizing wastage. Apart from that contractors can make use of construction schedules and 4D simulations for improving the onsite productivity of the project. All these are additions benefits of BIM models which are basically developed for creating effective building design that accounts for flawless construction.

A comprehensive note on the advantages of architectural,

structural and MEP models

The trend of developing 3D digital models for building projects became popular after the

adoption and utilization of BIM in Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry. The

concept of Building Information Modeling evolved approximated three decades ago but its rapid

use in AEC Industry started only in the last few years. Before that AEC firms used to find it

difficult to accommodate BIM software which used to be considered quite costly.

But as gradual advancements are taking place in technological sector, software technology used

in construction business is becoming cheaper and accessible to design and construction

professionals. And due to that today every AEC firm is equipped with high end tools and

technology which help them in delivering effective engineering solutions to clients during

preconstruction.

Development of digital models for architecture, structure and MEP is not a difficult thing today

as engineering service providing companies can manage to maintain high end software such as

AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max and Navisworks etc. Building design software Revit which is created

by American software manufacturing company Autodesk is utilized by design and construction

professionals’ world over for developing 3D models. When it comes to reinforcing coordination,

collaboration and visualization during design development Revit is a leader in that. With the

assistance of high coordination and collaboration between design members during design

development extremely factual 3D models are created for different disciplines.

Multidiscipline 3D models are very important for different building stakeholders (architects,

engineers, contactors, owners and fabricators etc.) for taking constructive decisions that can

increase the productivity of the project. For example, construction management becomes highly

convenient for contractors when they extract crucial information such as material takeoffs and

bill of material which creates awareness among contractors about the use of materials in exact

quantities. When contractors get to know about quantities of materials that are necessary for

accomplishing the project they can buy the materials in exact amounts which helps in

minimizing wastage.

Apart from that contractors can make use of construction schedules and 4D simulations for

improving the onsite productivity of the project. All these are additions benefits of BIM models

which are basically developed for creating effective building design that accounts for flawless

construction.
