For the opening scene I have created a low-angle shot to create an imposing effect of hierarchy and tension alongside background music to complete it. I used a close-up shot of the door being locked to firstly, change the shot type in order to make it more interesting for audiences as well as show what the teacher is doing more closely. I took advantage of the security camera in order to create a feeling of being watched by the security camera effects (greyscale and timer) and the expose the characters feeling of vulnerability. The close and extreme close-up of these shots help disorientate the audience, creating the feeling that they are seeing what the character is seeing. This has been done to make it appear as close to brainwashing as I could with the equipment I had access to. To continue the feeling of being watched, constantly, I used another high angle shot in the bedroom to re-create a security camera with similar conventions. More extreme close-ups are shown to represent the p.o.v of the character, who is frantically scanning websites for conspiracy theories in an attempt to find the truth, this scene is more fast-paced and gives rise to tension and disbelief to the audience. I have used a series of quick cuts inspired by Edgar Wright’s ‘Shaun of the dead’ this gives a higher level of tension from everyday things. Making the viewer feel anxious from ordinary things like making tea. I have overlaid shots here to represent how the character’s mind is maddening due to her situation and raking through her thoughts to try and understand what’s happened I have used a postmodern element to my film by adding text in the shot itself to focus the audience on what the narration is saying, as well as using a disorientating close-up camera shot of the character spinning in circles.

I have overlaid shots here to represent how the character’s mind is maddening due to her situation and raking through her thoughts to try and understand what’s happened

I have used a postmodern element to my film by adding text in the shot itself to focus the audience on what the narration is saying, as well as using a disorientating close-up camera shot of the character spinning in circles.
