Eight Exotic Travel Destinations
Travel to far-flung, exotic locations is back in vogue as the luxury travel market continues its
rebound from the Great Recession. Today’s traveler is looking for more than a generic European
vacation. They want adventure, authenticity, and a unique experience that they’ll remember for a
lifetime.
As the luxury travel market draws more customers, more and more air charter services are
booking flights to some of the world’s most unique destinations. Whether it’s ancient ruins,
pristine beaches, or isolated monasteries, well-heeled travelers are taking more chances and
visiting more unusual locales on their vacations. Some of the more popular exotic destinations
among high end travelers include:
South Island, New Zealand – Although it’s the largest island in the archipelago, South
Island is home to less than half of the nation’s population. South Island offers unique
wildlife and natural scenery that can’t be found anywhere else in the world – volcanoes,
glaciers, and beautiful isolated beaches are scattered throughout the island, offering many
opportunities for sight-seeing.
Tahiti – Just an eight hour flight from Los Angeles, Tahiti offers emerald waters and
pristine beaches. Visitors can soak up village culture, go on shark spotting trips, and stay
in Tahiti’s iconic overwater bungalows.
Bagan, Myanmar – For seekers of enlightenment, Bagan offers a chance to learn from a
huge community of Buddhist teachers. The city houses the world’s largest concentration
of Buddhist temples and stupas.
Juneau, Alaska – While a trip to Alaska may sound a bit pedestrian, Juneau is actually
home to one of the world’s great natural wonders, the Mendenhall Caves. Located under
a glacier, these frigid, beautiful ice caves provide an incredible experience for visitors.
Angkor, Cambodia – This ruined city once ruled the Khmer empire in Southeast Asia.
The city is home to Angkor Wat, a huge temple that may be the largest religious structure
in the world. Located deep within the jungle, travel to this location is difficult, but worth
it.
Istanbul, Turkey – For a fusion of Western and Islamic cultures and architecture, the
former Constantinople is the location to see. Visitors can see the past glories of the
Byzantine and Ottoman empires and sample a variety of great food and art in this
gateway between the East and West.
Luxor, Egypt – Luxor is home to some of Egypt’s most impressive structures from its
classical period, including temples and tombs. The desert city sits along a river and offers
beautiful scenery to visitors and the modern city is a bustling metropolis.
Macau, China – Forget Las Vegas. For true high rollers, Macau is the gambling Mecca.
With modern casinos, luxurious hotels, and a fusion of Portuguese and Chinese food and
culture, Macau is a fantastic tourist destination, with great access to transportation,
including air charter services.
For world travelers who’d like to visit some of these exotic destinations, chartering a private jet
may offer the best way to arrive at some of the more out-of-the-way locations on this list.
Flightpath is an air charter service that connects travelers with charter flights and maintains
private jets for clients. Flightpath can help tourists reach the destinations they want to go,
providing hassle-free luxury service.
