It’s easy to get caught up in looking at all the different websites outthere. It’s also easy to sit down at your computer and 2 hours laterlook up and you haven’t accomplished anything. Because of this you’llwant to have a clear idea of what sites you want to visit when you getonline.
If you don’t you’ll find yourself going from site to site and not gettinganything done on your business. Most people don’t have a lot of freetime anyway so the time we do have needs to be effective.
2. Research
It’s important to have knowledge about the things you’re doing and it’sgood to continue to learn. However, if all you’re doing online isresearching HOW to work online, that’s not so good.
Research should at most take up 20% of your time online. The otherpart should be spent actually working.
3. Writing
Writing for the internet isn’t exactly like writing for the New York Times.Yes, it should make sense and yes it should be spell checked butdon’t spend hours upon hours on a blog post or an article. Make it asgood as you can but try to spend no more than an hour to an hour anda half on an article and no more than fifteen to thirty minutes on a blogpost.
4. Forums
Forums are a great place to gain information and learn. However, they
can also be a place where people talk a lot about working but do verylittle of it. Don’t get sucked into the mindless chatter of an onlineforum. Go there ask your question, maybe answer a few, and if thereis an ad posting section post your ad… then get out!
5. Myspace/ Facebook
Very similar to the forum problem, social networking sites likeMyspace, Facebook and Twitter allow you to connect with your family,friends and business associates. It’s also a great place to market yourbusiness. Just make sure you’re spending more time on the actualmarketing than the social aspect of these fun and addictive sites.
6. YouTube
When you view a video on YouTube they automatically show you afew more that you might like as well. That can lead to you watchingvideo after video after video. It’s a lot of fun but a huge time wasterand something that’s not making you any money so be careful or youmight end up wasting 3 hours of your life you’ll never get back!
