Granted it’s hard to predict the future, especially when it comes to technology…

However, companies in our industry must always be thinking ahead to stay relevant and competitive…

As businesses continue to migrate their data to the cloud, hackers will begin to

target cloud-enabled services. We’ve seen it before with services like DropBox.

Partnering with a Managed Services Provider such as CHIPS can ensure a safe

migration to the cloud & secure management of that data.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Iranian hackers had infiltrated

the control system of a small dam less than 20 miles from New York City back

in 2013. We’ve seen what terrorist organizations like ISIS are capable of, and I

wouldn’t be surprised if a similar – and larger – attack is attempted in 2016.

medium size businesses as they typically don’t have the required resources.

These companies should contact an MSP such as CHIPS for assistance.

A video surfaced online in July 2015 that showed 2 hackers who took remote

control over certain functions of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. As more devices rely on

internet-enabled connectivity, I would expect similar incidents to occur in 2016

as our appliances and automobiles are beginning to implement these services.

Various companies and governmental agencies have become victim of

ransomware in the past year. The growing sophistication of the malware used

as ransomware makes this a huge threat. For anyone unfamiliar with

ransomware, hackers use malware to encrypt your data with a certain key that

only they can use to “unlock” your data for a price – which usually isn’t the case.
