Bottom Line Up Front• Many successes in the

past

• SCO recently started a project to gather your feedback on past air photo projects

• What can we do better in the future?

• Develop a “blueprint” for moving forward

Page 3: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

Looking back....• Wisconsin Regional

Ortho Consortium

• Southwest Ortho Consortium

• North and West Consortium

• SEWRPC

• FlyDane

... and many more....

What did we learn?

• What worked well?

• What didn’t work so well?

• What could be done differently in the future?

Page 5: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

The Project• Let’s try to answer

these questions and more

• Based on research findings, develop an imagery acquisition “blueprint” for the future

Page 6: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

The Project• SCO has lead,

received FGDC funding

• Hiring a consultant to help with information gathering and final report

• Steering Committee to help guide project

Page 7: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

Desired Results• A plan that addresses

both short-term (2015) and long-term (2020+) needs

• A process that can be applied to other themes in the future

• A “waypoint” for all of us to navigate towards

Page 8: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

What about LiDAR?• The need for

recurring photography is well-established

• LiDAR is hot right now

• Are the business processes for acquiring LiDAR any different?

Page 9: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

Page 10: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

Start thinking about your past experiences• What went well?

• What didn’t go so well?

• If you were king/queen, what would you like to see in the future?

• Offer the blueprint for the future

Page 16: 5A - WISCONSIN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY: 2015 AND BEYOND

Resolve to Take Action• A business plan by

itself is worthless

• Not intended to be delivered to a “higher power” for action

• The higher power is you!
