What is insert molding?

The process by which a resin is injected into a metal mold. A fastener, connector, nut or any type of component can be inserted into a mold. Both thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers are commonly used in insert injection molding.

What Is the Insert Molding Process?

Insert Injection Molding Process

Insert injection molding permits the use of inserts for metal or plastic components. First, the metal component is inserted into the mold. Then a resin is injected. Once the mold has been prepared, it is inserted into a mold cavity and allowed to harden.
