Van Horn Dodge Chrysler Jeep recently donated a 2008 Town and Country to the Hmong Association of Sheboygan. The Hmong Mutual Assistance Association of Sheboygan, Inc. (HMAAS) is a non-profit Organization founded by the Hmong Community of Sheboygan and was legally incorporated in the State of Wisconsin in November, 1980. HMAAS’ primary mission at the present time is to assist the Southeast Asian Refugees in their resettlement process in Sheboygan County, and to promote opportunities that will enable refugee families to become self-sufficient and active as contributing citizens in the community. One of their programs provides a place for Hmong elderly to come together on a weekly basis to learn English, citizenship, and daily living skills. Currently, there are about 25-35 elderly individuals participating in this program on a regular basis. Due to cultural barriers and the lack of English speaking skills, many of these elderly individuals cannot function normally in the community without the assistance from the Hmong Association. This program also helps the elderly who live alone to feel less isolated. One of the barriers is transportation as most of these elderly individuals are not able to drive. Currently, they are relying on friends and relatives for rides to the center. With their own van, the Hmong Association can ensure that these individuals will get to the center regularly to participate in weekly activities without the frustration of trying to call friends or family for transportation. This enhances the program and will hopefully attract more people to join! With help from Van Horn Dodge, in a partnership effort, the Hmong Association is able to

accomplish the task of providing reliable transportation to our elderly population. Together we will

At Van Horn Dodge, we were fortunate enough to add a new employee to our family. Christina Kolar

has now joined Van Horn Dodge as our Customer Relations Specialist. Christina has 17 years of customer

service experience in various positions. She originally is from the beautiful mountains of northeast

Tennessee. She has one daughter named Priscilla (after Priscilla Presley). When not working at Van Horn

Dodge, she spends her time with her daughter Priscilla, crocheting, and traveling. Christina has even

appeared on television on the show Criss Angel Mindfreak in 2007 and briefly worked with Rock of Love/

Poison’s front man Bret Michaels from 2008 to early 2010.

Keep your vehicle looking like new!

It is a fact that people today are keeping their

vehicles longer now than in the past. The cost of

replacing a vehicle has customers shifting more

towards repairing their ride instead of getting

locked into payments. Lets take a look at some

easy ways to keep your investment in top

condition. Lets start with the cosmetic

appearance of keeping the painted surface in top

share. This requires a few basic steps. Basic

washing will keep items such as road grime and

bird waste from accumulating. What is left

behind is often overlooked though. Fallout

particles, acid rain, red sap, and bugs remain.

The contaminants will eat into the paint and

damage the clear coat. These particles will look

like tiny rust spots scattered over the surface of

your vehicle. Wash and scrubbing may not get

these out. The great “do-it-yourself product that

is available to easily remove all of these nuisance

items is known as a “clay bar” or “surface prep

bar”. This product makes quick work of the

problem leaving behind a “smooth as glass” feel.

This is the perfect lead into a wax job. The “clay

then wax” process will guarantee a like new

finish for many years. Keep in mind that from a

warranty stand point, regular upkeep is

expected in some specific areas. Examples are

chrome bumpers, wheels, and convertible top

fabrics. Chromed surfaces are subjected to harsh

conditions such as fallout and road salt. Regular

cleaning with approved products is needed to

avoid premature corrosion and pitting. Fabric

tops must be properly cleaned to avoid rotting

and staining. Warranty covers defects in

materials, but could be declined in the case of

neglect. Failure to properly care for an item

may result in a repair being declined. Moving

on to the interior, regular attention to basics will

keep the passenger compartment a pleasant

place to be. Simple vacuuming of the floor and

seats will keep dirt and gravel from becoming

ground into the fabric over time. Wiping out

the door and lift gates will keep dirt off of

passengers clothing when entering and leaving

the vehicles. Address any messes left by pets or

children right away to prevent staining.

Cleaning salt stains from the floor in winter will

avoid a crusty buildup that is difficult to correct.

Treat leather seats regularly to prevent cracking

from occurring. I am speaking from experience

regarding this matter. My wife and I purchased

a new 2002 Dodge Caravan to accommodate a

growing family. With regular attention to the

cosmetics, we were able to keep the van looking

great for over 9 years. When it came time to

replace it, the vehicle still looked brand new.

The new owner was amazed at how nice the van

was. This resulted in us getting top dollar when

we traded this vehicle in and 9 years of driving a
