two cars in one

Day to day, many short hops in Prius Plug-in can be undertaken in EV mode only, the same as Leaf. But in circumstances that could tax Leaf’s abilities (such as road trips, extended climbing or driving in extreme weather), Prius Plug-in has all the abilities and reassuring nature of a Prius. In other words, Prius Plug-in and Leaf are both great electric vehicles for around-town use, but Prius Plug-in is also a confidence-inspiring partner during longer or more challenging trips.

conventional driving range

Leaf’s range is limited by it batteries’ charge, then it must stop and recharge. Prius Plug-in has the driving range of a typical gas-powered car.

entune

Prius Plug-in comes standard with Entune, Toyota’s system that allows access to popular mobile applications and data services.2 Leaf has no comparable system.

A blending of technology and convenience

For Prius Plug-in, “cutting edge” applies to more than just the powertrain. High-tech features improve the driving experience and add to the car’s comfort and convenience.

Minutes to fill up, three-hour recharge

For Leaf, a full recharge will take 7–20 hours depending on voltage. For Prius, a fill-up takes about five minutes at a convenient gas station, and a full battery charge takes about three hours. Bottom line, Prius Plug-in spends less time refueling so it can spend more time on the road.

Note:

• Prius Plug-in Advanced: Entune apps are available now.

• Prius Plug-in: iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com and OpenTable are scheduled for Q1 2012 availability and are user-upgradable.

cost-effective economy

Prius Plug-in’s MSRP starts lower than Leaf’s, though available tax incentives can change the final figures. Beyond that, as part of a Leaf purchase, most new owners will probably spend up to $2,000 more to install a dedicated 240V, 40-amp charging station. Add it up, and Prius Plug-in becomes the choice for value.
