It goes without saying, a car should be test driven and properly inspected before purchase.

Whether you are buying a new or used car, help ensure that’s likely to fit your needs and budget.

Ride comfort:

ACCELERATION:

Always listen out for any unusual sounds particularly when the engine

is slowing down.

Check your car engine running smoothly…

Try overtaking to check for a good acceleration and any blind spots

Go for a challenging route and don’t forget hills to see how the engine responds

BRAKING:

See how the vehicle is responding to the brake pedal

The brakes should be smooth, progressive and responsive

Try braking hard with

more force to test the

stability in an emergency

Test the brakes by turning the engine to both

on and off mode

Steering & Handling :

Try adjusting the steering by turning both left and right corners and check

how it feels

Make sure the steering is responding quickly

Make sure there isn’t any clunking noise before the

wheels start to move.

Visibility:

Make sure you are getting a panoramic view of the road

Check the mirrors to get the kind of side and rear view

you need

Also check the rear visibility when backing up and the size of the rear blind zone

Better to try the test drive at night to know how well the

headlights perform

Exhaust & Noises:

A small amount of white smoke is normal but be aware of the

exhaust smoke that’s blue, overly white or black

Also check for the noises that suggest any problem with the

vehicle

You can turn off the radio and close the windows to have a

better sound effect

Some Other Tips :

Make sure you are insured

Take the proof with you to show the seller or the police in case of

any accident

During the test drive try the similar version of the car that

you want to buy
