Child Immunization: Tuberculosis, pertussis, diptitheria, tetanus, polio and measles are the most coomon immunization.

Infant and Under Five Mortality: Tabora has better performance compared to other regions.

Life expectancy: 53 years for mail, 54 years for femalein 1988.

Water supply

Tabora is in the semi-arid climatic zone and has limited natural water resources. Underground water potential is poor-fair due granite, etc. In some part of Nzega, much of the underground water is saline or has a high flouride content.

+50 dams have been built regardless of bad topography.

Large excavated pit to collect rain water is used as an alternative.

Major Water sources in Nzega: 2 Dams,1 borehole +?. There’re 15 public kiosks, supplying only 27% of total demand.

Problems in Nzega: 1) Increasing water demand for rapid expansion of the town 2) frequent breakdown of Dam 3) lack of funds to manage water supply

Massive water project(Complete by 2020) for Tabora is planned by JICA.

Sanitation: In Urban areas, traditional pit latrines are adopted. It’s same in rural areas, but about 24% of the rural population go without latrines. Sanitation and swage is critical especially in urban areas because of overcrowding.

NGOs in Tabora

There are already many actors in Tabora and Nzega. They are friends who have same will, and potential partners, absolutely NOT rivals. We should either corporate with them or do something others haven’t done.

Thank you. We need to update information about Nzega.
