DESCRIPTION
The Saudi auto market had a record first half sales this year, selling 412,921 vehicle during the first 6 months of 2014, which represents 5.7% increase year over year, however the future doesn't look as bright due to several factors. The recent instabilities in Syria and decreasing oil prices will cast a shadow on sales for the second half of this year and next year, according to Focus2move estimates. The month of June ended with 62,836 vehicles, which represents 10.6% increase year over year. Despite numerous recent recalls which involved Toyota, ,the brand is still on top of vehicles sold in KSA, commanding almost 35% market share with over 150,000 vehicles sold. Second place goes to Hyundai, which continues to prove its a worthy Korean competitor, selling almost 72,000 cars during the first half, and about 17.5 % market share.
