Taylor Swift – Wild Dreams music video Analysis The genre characteristics are pretty stereotypical for a Taylor Swift music video as there always seems to be a male character in her videos. The lyrics are also similar to her other songs: they are about love. The theme of romance, passion and dreams carries on throughout the whole video till the end. This effect is achieved by the slow chorus with violins and drums to give a relaxing vibe and to give the audience the ide of the genre of music. The video has a storyline of two actors filming a film in Africa and she falls in love with him day by day. This therefore is narrative based. The relationship between lyrics and visuals is connected and it is quite obvious for the audience to understand the story. The slow music and violins and drums link to the beautiful African scenario that includes bird eye views from the plane with waterfalls and safaris with animals such as lions. These all add to the romantic and dreamy feel. There are close ups of the artist to show the more intimate scenes and part of their relationship such as the kissing scene or the bed scene. Emotions are conveyed to the audience through this which reinforces the lyrics and the theme of love and passion. There is also reference of the notion of looking as we can see that the actor and Taylor are being filmed. They then see themselves on the big screens of Hollywood including the posters all over the theatres. There also is intertextual reference as the actor used in the video is a real life actor and recently was in a romantic film.
