1.INTRODUCTION

• World is fast moving but in comparison with it means of transport is low.

• Maglev is the best alternative for means of transport.

• Maglev runs on the principle of magnetic levitation.

• Maglev is noiseless ,friction less , and require no maintenance.

• The lack of friction allow maglev vehicle to travel at a speed over 300 miles/hr.

• Electrified transport reduces pollution.

2.OPERATING PRINCIPLE

• PRINCIPLE OF MAGNETIC LEVITATION: Maglev work on the principle of electro magnetic suspension(E.M.S.)

3.Working

• Sliding rails on the top of guide way supports the vehicle.

• Maglev train is propelled by the guide way itself and the train changes its section.

• There are forces which push the magnet upward and once which pull them upwards simultaneously thereby levitating the maglev vehicle.

• During operation , a highly reliable and redundant control system ensure that the vehicle levitates at a constant distance from the guide way at all speed.

• Propulsion is accomplished through a long stator linear synchronous motor fixed to the underside of the guide way.

• Therefore instead of rotating magnetic field a travelling magnetic field is created by adding electrical current to the system.
