The special edition Audi R8 LMX will ‘brighten’ the future with laser beams – but this comes at a price.



After BMW announced its visionary laser headlights for the BMW i8 model scheduled to launch in the fall…

With 570 hp and a sharp laser light, Audi R8 LMX confirms Audi’s leadership position in the lighting technology.

In addition to outstanding TDI engine technology, the laser spot lamp in the car’s high beam lamps provides more light & shines it much further ahead of the car.



The laser light can be activated at speeds over 38 mph and provides significantly greater visibility than current xenon of full-LED headlights.

Each module has four laser diodes just 300 micrometers in diameter. They fire a blue laser beam with a wavelength of 450 nanometers into a phosphor converter, generating white light perfect for nighttime illumination.



A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transfers power to the permanent all-wheel drive. In conjunction with the 19-inch wheels are mounted brake discs made of carbon fiber-ceramic.

Behind the exclusively designed rims glow red anodized brake calipers. The R8 LMX runs on tires of size 235/35 R 19 front and 305/30 R 19 at the rear.



Audi R8 LMX shows only marginally changes compared to its R8 model. With 570 hp and 540 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, the 5.2-liter V10 engine accelerates the racer in 3.4 seconds from zero to 100 km.

Top speed is 320 km / h and the mean consumption is 12.9 liters.

Market launch in Germany for the Audi R8 LMX is scheduled for summer 2014.
