We continue our sequence of EVU mini-courses addressing Model S tips and tricks, by considering the interior of the vehicle. As you learned in the previous mini-course, most controls and setting are handled via the 17 touch screen display. As a consequence, there are relatively few buttons, knobs or switches in the Model S. However, there are a few interior physical controls that you should understand, along with tips and tricks associated with them.

Earlier in this EVU Model S curriculum track, I jokingly referred to the car as a computer with four wheels.Like all systems, the computers controlling the Model S display and dash occasionally need a reboot. If your car is refusing to display a particular piece of information, or some minor function isnt operating properly, doing a reboot often corrects the problem. Its very important to note that these computers are independent of the Model main computer and firmware that controls all safety related driving functions, so youre in no danger of rebooting anything directly related to the control of the car. In fact, although i dont recommend it, a reboot can occur while the car is in motion, although its very important to note that your touch screen and/or dash will go black as the reboot occurs.

>> to do a screen reboot of dash display>> Hold down the right and left top steering wheel buttons simultaneously for 5 - 10 seconds to reboot the drivers console display.>> to do a Screen reboot of 17 touch screen display>> Hold down the right and left rollers simultaneously for 5 - 10 seconds to reboot the touch screen>>Its also possible to take a screen shot for service: Hold down the steering wheel buttons on each side for a few moments to grab a screenshot.
