LEAF BLAST

Caused by Pyricularia grisea

Eye spindle shaped spots appear on leaves

It starts from lower leaves to upper

Brown margins with greyish centre

Lesion enlarge, coalesce and kill the leaves

Caused by Sarocladium oryzae

Irregular spots on leaf sheath chocolate brown in colour

It occurs during heading to maturity stages

Discolouration and dried up of grains

Caused by Ustilaginoidea virens

Occurrence of smut after flowering

Appearance of yellowish and soft balls on grains

Few grains infected and the rest are normal

First found in Haryana and Punjab

Helminthosporium oryzae

Spreaded by wind blown spores

Circular to oval shaped reddish brown lesions on leaves

Spots are surrounded by yellow or gold halo

Pathogen is seed borne

BACTERIAL LEAF BLIGHT Caused by Xanthomonas

campestris pv. Oryzae Water soaked lesions and

turns yellow to straw colour stripes

Causes drying and death of the leaves

leaves roll, droop and plants die completely

Milky dew drops ooze out from the affected areas

TUNGRO

Spreading by GLH Nephotettix virescens and N.nigropictus

Discolouration of leaf from light green to orange yellow

Damage can caused by virus and insect also

Decrease tiller growth and stunted plant growth

It can occur at any stage from sowing to maturity
