IN THE WINTERDIESEL MAINTENANCE

WHAT CAN YOU RECOMMEND TO YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR MAINTENANCE OF THEIR DIESEL TRUCKS DURING THE COLDER MONTHS?

TREAT THE DIESEL ITSELFWhile diesel engines are tough, heavy duty engines, they are not immune to engine deposits, and like gasoline engines, they require special fuel additives to help control the various issues which can occur.

FOULING Diesel engines use fuel injectors to control the fuel flow into the engine combustion chambers, and as with regular gasoline engines, fouling can create flow issues. Our Diesel Shock treatment is a preventative- maintenance product that maintains diesel fuel injector cleanliness, ensuring the correct fuel spray.

DIESEL SHOCK

Shrader’s Diesel Shock offers deep cleaning protection for your fuel system, increasing cetane numbers and providing a high level of detergents and lubricity. Diesel shock removes fuel system deposits allowing optimum operating conditions while reducing exhaust emissions, improved fuel efficiency and increased cetane.

Reduces exhaust emissions.

Protects against corrosion.

Improves fuel efficiency.

Increases Cetane number.

Deep cleaning protection for fuel system.

TREAT THE DIESEL ITSELFWhile diesel engines are tough, heavy duty engines, they are not immune to engine deposits, and like gasoline engines, they require special fuel additives to help control the various issues which can occur.

WAX DROPOUTDiesel fuel contains waxes, and at cold ambient temperatures, larger wax crystals will begin to form. This causing wax dropout which can block the fuel filter. Fuel flow improvers such as Shrader’s Diesel Anti-Gel-30 treats the fuel, ensuring proper flow and eliminating tank sludge, to make a diesel engine last longer and work better.

Shrader's Diesel Anti-Gel -30 is a concentrated, full spectrum fuel additive and combustion catalyst designed for use with diesel fuel in cold climates. Cold weather crystalizes and thickens fuel due to wax formation growth. This formulation eliminates wax dropout due to sub-zero temperatures.

Eliminates tank sludge.

Improves fuel mileage and clean burning combustion.

Reduces harmful emissions while improving lubricity.

Prevents corrosion to tanks and entire fuel system.

Improves pumpability in today's diesel fuels.

Improves cetane.

Contains no alcohol.

COLD STARTINGCold starting is a big problem for diesels in the winter, which is where Shrader’s Diesel Cetane Boost comes in. Similar to the octane rating of gasoline the cetane number indicates purity and quality – the higher the number, the higher the quality. Our Cetane Boost will effectively increase the cetane number of diesel fuel, meaning faster engine starts, improved engine operation, increased power and performance, and reduced exhaust emissions and soot.

Shrader's Diesel Cetane Boost added to the fuel system allows for maximum performance. Recommended for use in ULSD fuels and with biodiesel.

Improve diesel fuel quality to improve power,

performance and cold starting.

Improves cetane. Reduces exhaust emissions and improves fuel efficiency.

LUBRICITY, EXHAUST SMOKE & FUEL EFFICIENCYShrader’s Premium Diesel Fuel Conditioner and Shrader’s Diesel Fuel Treatment are year-round products that help to improve lubricity for low-sulphur diesel fuels, reduce exhaust smoke, improve fuel efficiency, and aid in corrosion protection.

Restricted injector flow due to deposit formation will cause engine operability problems such as reduced power, increased fuel consumption, increased exhaust and particulate emissions and generally poor performance. The reduction of the sulphur content in diesel fuel will result in increased fuel injector and fuel pump component wear.

Reduce wear, reduce smoke and decrease fuel

consumption

Improves engine performance and decreases

emissions

Removes fuel related deposits, keep fuel injectors clean

BATTERY TERMINAL PROTECTOR

Dry deposits from battery acid will build up on terminals and cable ends reducing or eliminating electrical power. Shrader's battery Terminal Protector will protect from battery acid build-up after battery has been cleaned. Protect from

battery acid build-up.

BATTERY CHECKHaving a fully-charged battery is certainly a great way to head into the cold weather, but remind your customer that it’s more than just the charge that matters. Dirty batteries and corroded or dirty battery terminals can turn a good battery bad. Go the extra mile, and check the positive cable attachment at the starter – these have a tendency, above all other parts of the electrical system, to corrode over time. If you are replacing a customer’s battery, make sure to use our Battery Terminal Protector to reduce potential battery acid build-up around terminals.

HIGH SPEED EXTREMEPRESSURE BEARING

Shrader's High Speed Extreme Pressure Bearing Grease should be used on high speed, high temperature applications in automotive and industrial settings. It is best for such applications as wheel bearings, ball joints, U-joints, disc brakes, bushings and other critical grease points on automotive or heavy duty equipment.

Excellent Work Stability

Extreme Pressure and Anti-Wear Protection

Oxidation Resistant Formulation

Compatible with conventional lithium

soap greases.

Meets the ASTM D 4950 Standards

CARING FOR THE FRONTENDOften forgotten about, front bearings need to be re-packed on an annual basis. Shrader’s High Speed Extreme Pressure Bearing Grease is the perfect product to keep on hand, thanks to being an OEM-approved lubricant for numerous vehicles. On top of the usual properties of grease, it offers some features that make it perfect for dealing with fierce winters, including corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, so a little snow won’t lead to a lot of rust.

LOCK STEP DON’T GET HOSEDA diesel is useless to your customer if they are locked out of their truck. Remind them that using a dry graphite lube or

silicon spray for their locks can avoid internal freezing over the winter. These products are relatively inexpensive, and there’s no reason you can’t off this service to your customers for free – it will help breed customer satisfaction, as these little steps

are what can make the difference in the long run.

The repeated expansion and contraction of hose material in cold weather causes extreme flexing over the course of a winter, and can lead to hoses and lines cracking and failing. Recommend that

your customers have you look over and replace any that are showing signs of wear – this includes, but isn’t limited to, coolant

and fuel lines. Make sure to check that they are connected tightly at each end as well, so they don’t break loose during usage.
