Conventions of a Film Festival postcard

The purpose of these postcards is to promote a film normally and indie film. They will be handed out in numerous locations to promote the film and hopefully reach its demographic by handing them out in specific locations to target their audience. For example my audience is the skateboarders so a good location would be at a skate park or a skate shop. Postcards are also handed out at the location because some people tend to keep them after the event as a memory.A Film postcard should have all the basic information:• Title of the short film/documentary • Director• Producers• Nominations for any film festival or awards • URL or website • A short summary to that provokes the reader to want to watch the film, again

is catered to the demographic.

Also colours that stand out and are easy to read should be used and colours that engage with the audience and follow the overall theme of the documentary e.g. a horror would use darker colours to convey their film.

A brown, orange and grey colour theme is used throughout and creates a western, dramatic effect. Just from the post card I feel like the film is dramatic and has somewhat of an emotionally engaging story. All text is in white which is easy to read on the dark background apart from the title which is brown, this makes it stand out and is much larger than the rest making it easy to establish it’s the title.

The main visual imagery is an illustration of two elderly people which helps promote the story and engage with the target audience.

Lots of information is shown about the movies accomplishments and where the reader can see it.

To the this post card doesn't’t attract me, I feel the colours are too dull and I feel the information isn't presented well. A positive of this postcard is I feel it amplifies the genre and that can make reaching their target audience very easy.

It lacks information about the movie itself which is defeats the purpose of the postcard

Presentation is very minimal but clean and easy to read which I like. Information that s present is very easy to read like the nominations.

The colour theme is very visible and it present throughout. Purple and green

Even though no information is present about the film its quite easy to understand the basics of the story line like the villain in the middle is portrayed as very cunning and is shown as a villain by his NVC and dark backgrounds.

Animation is used which promotes that the film is animated.

I like this poster but would be more powerful if information about the film was present even a few words.
