Canadian Sales - 2012
Great Year
Yes…2012 was a GREAT year in Canadian sales at
1.68 M
Almost broke all sorts of records…almost.
Strong 1st quarter at +8%
First half at +7%
The ¾ mark still +7%
Year end + 6%
Last Quarter
The last 3 turns (months) provide an indication of how
the next lap (year) will develop.
Some continued a strong lap – MerBimAu, Hyundai/Kia, Honda, Chrysler, Subaru to
name a few.
Others managed the final turn Toyota, Mazda, Ford caught our attention by
slowing down.
Others were headed for pit lane, GM, Nissan, Volvo.
The Months in 2012Our Thoughts
January: (+15%) Strong month, perhaps too strong…a case of sales management from 2011. February: (+11%) Another strong month, by now it’s a good start. March: (+3%) Chill on the incentives…the 1st quarter is strong…pundits talking at least 1.7M April: (-1%) Start of new quarter lets hold back on incentives…oops moment. May: (+18%) After the oops lets open up with incentives to get the 2nd quarter on track. June: (+3%) Chill on the incentives 2nd quarter up by 7% its all cool first half up by 7% too. July: (+5%) Its summer steady with the incentives. August: (+6%) Dog days of summer still steady, this quarter is looking good. September: (+6%) Good month, strong 3rd quarter, the Japanese have gained. October: (+8%) More incentives, lets get an advantage, generate some blinks. November: (+4) Steady, with some new blinks especially GM. December: (-5%) Only +2% for the quarter is this reality, sales management for 2013.
The Customer: As usual the customer waits towards the end of the month.
