Direction Finding:

It is also called as radio direction

finding

These systems calculate the bearing

from two fixed sites to the mobile

which will create a triangle .

This triangle will notify you about the

location of mobile transmitter.

These type of tracking systems are

used by Federal Communications

Commission Rules.

LORAN-based:

It is also known as long range

navigation.

It automatically transmits its own

signals maintaining a frequency &

pulse duration .

GPS based system:

It is also known as global

positioning system.

GPS signals are not required to be

installed.

Only a receiver is needed to collect

signals from the satellite segment.

The satellite segment is installed in

each vehicle and a radio to

communicate the collected location

data..

Signpost System:

These are mainly used on transit

routes where the vehicles need to be

tracked in a continuous manner on

the same route.
