POWER AND PERFORMANCE 5

Now you can handle rainy weather, mountain roads and poor

traction with enhanced confi dence. Savana 1500 Series mod-

els are available with an innovative full-time all-wheel-drive

system — the fi rst of its kind in a full-size van.1 It continuously

and smoothly adjusts the transfer of torque to all four wheels

to help minimize wheel slippage and maintain traction.

WITH ALL-WHEEL DRIVE1

EATON® LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL

Two-wheel-drive Savana 1500 Series models offer a GM-

exclusive available automatic locking rear differential that

automatically senses wheel spin and locks the rear axle to

transfer torque to the other rear wheel. It helps your ability

to handle slippery road conditions at low speeds.

MAINTAINING CONFIDENCE AND CONTROL

If understeer occurs (top) StabiliTrak applies the

inside front brake to correct steering.

If fi shtailing occurs (bottom) it applies the outside

front brake to correct steering.

STABILITRAK— REMARKABLE ENGINEERING

The Savana 3500 Series Passenger Van features a standard

StabiliTrak system that helps it respond more accurately to

your steering commands. It uses sensors to read the position

of your steering wheel, vehicle speed, brake pressure, lateral

acceleration and turning rate. These sensors feed data to

an onboard computer that analyzes the situation within mil-

liseconds and makes a decision. If it determines that your

van is not responding adequately to your steering input, the

computer reduces engine torque and applies brake pressure

to any individual wheel to help keep you on track. And it in-

cludes Proactive Roll Avoidance technology to enhance your

ability to maintain steering control.

FIVE-STAR FRONTAL CRASH TEST RATING2

With Savana, safety engineering is a top priority. In a U.S. Government crash test

for driver and passenger frontal impact, the 2006 Savana 1500 Series Passenger

Van received a Five-Star NHTSA Frontal Crash Test Rating. It’s one more way

professional grade engineering gives you more peace of mind.

1Excludes other GM vehicles. 1Five-star rating for the driver and front passenger in the Frontal Crash Test. U.S. Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffi c Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) New Car Assessment Program. ETHANOL — THE CLEANER-BURNING ALTERNATIVE

Savana 1500 Series Passenger Vans3 are available with a Vortec® 5.3L V-8 “FlexFuel”

Engine. It can run on a blend of ethanol and gasoline called E85 (which is 85 percent

ethanol, 15 percent gasoline). E85 produces fewer carbon emissions than gasoline

while offering at least the same outstanding horsepower and torque as equivalent

Vortec gasoline-only engines. Fuel economy will vary by type of engine and fuel

type. Go to livegreengoyellow.com to see if there is an E85 fuel station near you.

TRAILERING WITH YOUR SAVANA

Savana is built strong and durable to handle the demands of trailering. Certain

equipment that prepares it for trailering is standard: power steering, power brakes,

a large fuel tank, a 105- or 145-amp alternator, a front stabilizer bar and an internal

transmission oil cooler. For other available trailering-related equipment, talk to your

dealer. You’ll need a hitch, of course, and a wide selection of hitch types is available,

either from your dealer or as factory-installed equipment. In addition, if you plan to

tow frequently, you should equip your van with the available trailering package.

This package includes a weight-distributing hitch platform and a heavy-duty eight-

wire electrical harness. Also required with this package are a hitch ball, a mounting

head and possibly weight-distributing and anti-sway assemblies; these are

available through aftermarket sources. If you have any questions about trailering

with your van, before you buy, feel free to ask your dealer for a copy of the GMC

Trailering Guide. Be sure to read it and use it as a guide before you hitch a trailer

to your van.
