EXCLUSIVE DRIVER’S-SIDE SWING-OUT DOORS.1Savana Luxury Van in Silver Birch Metallic shown with equipment by an independent supplier

THE FULL-SIZE VAN THAT OFFERS DRIVER’S-SIDE SWING-OUT DOORS.1 With these optional swing-out doors, the Savana is

remarkably accessible. It helps make loading and unloading easy and gives all your passengers quick access to the interior. A low step-in height and rear doors

that open extra wide make it even more convenient. The interior is designed to give you the room you need and the comfort you want. It provides abundant

legroom for driver and passengers, innovative seating with added lumbar support, and available six-way power adjusters to help make long trips a pleasure.

ONSTAR® SAFETY & SECURITY

In an emergency, an OnStar2 Advisor is

there to help. If air bags deploy, OnStar

receives a signal and can call the vehi-

cle. OnStar can also work with authori-

ties and attempt to locate a stolen

vehicle. Weather conditions can be

obtained through Virtual Advisor. All

plans include access to Personal Call-

ing, a voice-activated phone that can

receive location-based traffic and more.

This catalog shows many vehicles that have been altered or upfitted with equipment, bodies or components supplied to General Motors by an independent supplier. GMis not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials or workmanship of any alterations by such a supplier. See page 16 for more information aboutalterations and warranties. 1Exclusive to GM vehicles. Competitor comparisons based on most current available competitor models (2004). 2OnStar is available on allSavana vans. The first year of OnStar Safe & Sound service plan is included on all OnStar-equipped vehicles. ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

The Savana was the first full-size

van to feature an available all-wheel-

drive system.2 It helps provide you

with surefooted performance on a

variety of surfaces.

1Exclusive to GM vehicles. Competitor comparisons based on most current available competitor models (2004). 2Excludes other GM vehicles. Based on most current availablecompetitive models (2004). 3Not available on 3500 Series. 42005 EPA estimated MPG: Vortec 5300 V8 (2WD), 14 city/18 highway. 5Excludes other GM vehicles. Based onmost current available competitor models (2004). Maximum payload capacity includes weight of vehicle, passenger, cargo and equipment. Cargo and payload capacity limitedby weight and distribution.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE.POWER AND PERFORMANCE.

A LINEUP OF POWERFUL VORTEC ENGINES

Choose a powerful Vortec 4300 V6 or one of two available Vortec V8 Engines:

the 5300 or 6000. Gen III Vortec V8 Engines offer superb driveability and

fuel efficiency.4

TOW/HAUL MODE

The innovative Tow/Haul mode gives

the automatic transmission a dual-

mode shift program that can hold

gears longer to transfer more torque

where it’s needed. It reduces hunting

between gears when climbing hills.

LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL

Two-wheel-drive Savana models offer

an available locking rear differential3

that automatically senses wheel spin

and locks the rear axle to transfer

torque to the other rear wheel. It

helps your ability to handle slippery

road conditions at lower speeds.

STABILITRAK®—AN EXCLUSIVE ENGINEERING ADVANCE1

One measure of agility is a vehicle’s response in unexpected situations. And that’s

where the 3500 Series Savana with standard StabiliTrak system excels. It’s an

engineering advance that helps your Savana respond more accurately to your

steering commands. It uses sensors to read the position of your steering wheel,

vehicle speed, brake pressure, lateral acceleration and turning rate. These sensors

feed data to an onboard computer that analyzes the situation within milliseconds

and makes a decision. If it determines that your van is not responding adequately

to your steering input, the computer reduces engine torque and applies brake pres-

sure to any individual wheel to help keep you on track.

If understeer occurs (top), StabiliTrak applies insidefront brake to correct steering.

If fishtailing occurs (bottom), StabiliTrak applies out-side front brake to correct steering.

Vortec™ 6000 V8

THE FIRST FULL-SIZE VAN WITH ALL-WHEEL DRIVE..2 Now you can handle rainy weather, mountain roads and poor traction with enhanced

confidence. Savana 1/2-ton models are available with an innovative full-time all-wheel-drive system—the first of its kind in a full-size van.2 It continuously adjusts

the transfer of torque to all four wheels in a smooth manner to help minimize wheel-slip and maintain traction. The great performance doesn’t end there. Savana

vans have an exclusive full-length boxed frame,1 which helps provide increased isolation from road input for a smooth and comfortable ride. You may also choose

from a variety of available Vortec Engines, including the most powerful V8 in its class2—the 300 horsepower Vortec 6000—which helps Savana offer impressive

trailering capabilities along with the highest maximum payload5 of any light-duty van.

SAVANASAVANA

1Excludes other GM vehicles. Competitor comparisons based on model year 2004 competitor vehicles. 2EPA estimated MPG 16 city/21 highway for 2WD vehicles,15 city/19 highway for AWD vehicles. 3Maximum trailer weight ratings arecalculated assuming a base vehicle, except for any options necessary to achieve the rating, plus driver. The weight of other optional equipment, passengers and cargo will reduce the maximum trailer weight your vehicle can tow. See yourGMC dealer for additional details.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE: JUST THE BEGINNING OF SAFARI’S CAPABILITIES.

Safari has the largest standard engine in its class1—a Vortec 4300 V6—featuring a multi-

port fuel-injection system that precisely meters fuel delivery for power and efficiency.2 With

190 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque—the best torque rating in its class1—you’ll always have

enough engine for the job. With the available trailering package, Safari also has a class-

leading trailer rating1 of up to 5400 lbs3—which is enough for a sizable boat or roomy

trailer. Even when loaded up, the rigid chassis and independent front suspension help you

keep in control. It’s the mid-size van that keeps up with your full-size agenda.

SAFARI: PERFORMANCE YOU CAN COUNT ON.ALL-WHEEL DRIVE: ADDED CON-

TROL WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST.

Winding mountain roads. Rainy

weather. Poor traction. It makes

little difference to the Safari with

available all-wheel drive. AWD auto-

matically and continuously transfers

torque from the slipping wheels to

those with firmer grip in a smooth,

imperceptible manner. The driver

never has to do a thing to turn it on.

SAFARI

COMFORT FOR THE LONG HAUL.SAFARI ENCOURAGES YOU TO TRAVEL IN COMFORT. Safari not only gives everyone, especially kids, plenty of space,

but plenty to do as well. With the available center-seat radio control system, dual volume controls and headphone jacks, the front-

seat occupants can listen to one audio source, such as the radio, while the center-seat occupants listen to another, such as the CD

player. No more battles over musical tastes. In the SLT, the center and rear bench seats feature a fold-down console with dual cupholders

and a table where kids (or adults) can keep themselves entertained.

ROOM FOR EIGHT—OR ONE VERY AMBITIOUS SHOPPER. Every seat in Safari

provides first-class accommodations. With plenty of elbowroom and ample legroom, there isn’t a

bad seat in the house, and that makes even long trips enjoyable. Multiple power outlets let you

operate a variety of twelve-volt devices, such as audio equipment or a laptop computer. With the

center and rear seats removed, Safari provides a spacious 170.4 cubic feet of space. And the flat-

load floor and low liftover height make loading and unloading quick and convenient.

above), Safari allows eight people to

travel in comfort. Center and rear bench

seats (middle) have fold-down armrest and

consoles (consoles on SLT only). Center-

and rear-row seats (below) can be re-

moved to give you impressive cargo

space.1 (Available Dutch doors and avail-

able Ultrasoft™ first - and second-row

power steering, power brakes, a large fuel tank, a 105- or 145-amp alter-

nator, a front stabilizer bar, an internal transmission oil cooler. For other

available trailering-related equipment, talk to your dealer. You’ll need a

hitch, of course, and a wide selection of hitch types is available, either

from your dealer or as factory-installed equipment. In addition, if you plan

to tow frequently, you should equip your van with the available trailering

package. This package includes a weight-distributing hitch platform and a

heavy-duty eight-wire electrical harness. Also required with this package

are a hitch ball, mounting head, and possibly weight-distributing and anti-

sway assemblies; these are available through aftermarket sources. If you

have any questions about trailering with your van, before you buy, feel free

to ask your dealer for a copy of the GMC Trailering Guide. Be sure to read

it and use it as a guide before you hitch a trailer to your van.
