Victor Schrager
By Alois Mangwende
"I was always taken with evocative colour of old hard covers”The White Room is an effort
to explore the "inexhaustible
plastic volume of space"
available through still-life
photography.
Victor Schrager focuses
primarily on still life
photography and his works
involve objects which vary in
size, width and colour to
create an abstract sense to
his images.
About Victor Schrager
Victor Schrager’s Photos
My Original PhotoThis is my original photo in which
I used a variety of books which
differed in colour, size and width
with the intentions of arranging
them in a similar way to Victor
Schrager’s The White Room
Series.
I used F.8 to slightly blur the
image, I also switched my camera
speed to 1/20.
The objects were lit in front of
seamless white paper, with the
use of an artificial light above the
objects to emphasize their array
of colours.
My interpretation of Victor Schrager’s The White Room SeriesThe picture on the left was
edited using Photoshop by
increasing the exposure
levels to suit and reveal the
white background. I also
changed the brightness
and contrast by increasing
them to ensure the bright
colours coming from the
books stood out.
