As you can see, above is my first attempt of a magazine cover, it is a school magazine as you can see. There are many flaws in this cover and you can tell it has been made by someone with inexperience in making magazine covers. Firstly, the background is not very good, even though there is a lot of space for text and images to be placed on the page. The title is not at all nice and the effects applied does not even look at all good. The sub-article’s on the sides of the page are inconsistent, some are not aligned properly with big spaces in between and the other sub-articles on the right hand side are too squashed. The only good feature maybe the sponsorship deal going across the front page. This was made in Macromedia Fireworks as well.

Here is the final outcome of my actual music magazine cover. As you can see it has improved a lot from the first attempt. The background is much more suitable, the sub-article’s on the sides also match with the background colour, they are all aligned nicely as well. The title of the magazine is much more nicer as well, it suits with the information being conveyed on the page also. Everything about this cover is much more better than my first attempt. This was made in Adobe Photoshop as well, thus showing the difference in quality from Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Here is the final outcome of my first attempt of the contents page for the school magazine. Again this outcome was full of flaws, starting with the setting. The setting for the picture is totally inappropriate and unsuitable, as you can see there is a wall sticking out in the picture. The title cannot be fully placed at the top of the page due to the ceiling showing in the picture, so this is one flaw, it is too close to the sub-articles. The framing of this shot is so poor, the sub-article’s on the right hand side of the page are going on to another wall within the picture. The sub-article’s just look bad as well, the font is unsuitable and is quite hard to understand. The three images on the corners of the page are quite small and are hard to see. The positioning of the image on the top left hand corner is not nice, but had to be placed due to the title coming in the way when it was placed horizontally. This all due to the framing of the shot. Everything about this contents page was not good enough and was quite poor to be honest. This was made in Macromedia Fireworks.

As you can see here is the final outcome of my actual music magazine. When looking at this, straight away you get a professional feel about it, it also looks professional. Everything on the page is organised and looks very neat on the page. It looks like a proper contents page, the sub-article’s are numbered and in columns coming neatly down the page in order, compared to the first attempt in which the sub-article’s were all over the page. The title is in necessary position and everything just combines nicely on the page. This was created on Adobe Photoshop, thus showing the difference in quality between itself and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Overall I believe I have made massive progression from the preliminary tasks to the actual creation of my music magazine. At first we were creating the magazines in Macromedia Fireworks and now I have progressed to using a much more complicated software as Adobe Photoshop and making a quality magazine. In terms of actual design and quality, I have also vastly improved from the preliminary tasks, the previous slides showing my progression. My layout, positioning and design have massively improved and I feel really satisfied with myself in terms of progression and understanding the development process from the preliminary tasks to the final creation of my music magazine.
