This picture is a long shot of the building. It shows just how highly guarded the building is, inferring that something may be going on and engaging the audience even more.

Dark lighting and gates show the sci-fi/action and therefore gives the audience an idea of what the film will be about.

This picture is of the helicopter flying over the sandy ground towards old, derelict buildings, possibly inferring that something had happened which destroyed all buildings and land.

This image is of the main characters in the film. This shows that the film will be mainly based upon teenagers as that is their age group.

What they are wearing and the way that they are positioned shows that it is an action film. They ate holding weapons and look as though they are ready to battle.

Burning buildings - engages the reader and adds more action

Audience:

The audience of The Maze Runner – Scorch Trials is mainly teenagers and young adults (14-25). This is because the film can be quite scary, however the main actors are teenagers therefore showing the type of target audience that the film is trying to engage. The movie is a sci-fi/action thriller; therefore it can engage a wide variety of audiences.

Tagline:

The tagline in the Scorch Trials is when the woman says, ‘The maze was just the beginning’. This assumes that there is a lot more to come and that their journey isn’t over yet. It also indicates that the people running the mazes (Wicked) still have them ‘captured’ which isn’t what the teenagers have been led to believe. This is linked to the audience because it will make teenagers think about what the tagline could be implying, and asking themselves, ‘what’s next?’ .

Graphics:

Many different types of graphics were used in the trailer, such as the helicopter flying across the desert; all of the buildings in the background were graphically designed in a certain way to show the audience what was happening and engage them with the story. This links to the target audience because some teenagers enjoy different types of graphics and how it is used to make things look incredibly real.

Font style:

The font style is quite plain and big, the letters are all in capitals adding emphasis and making them easier to read. The style of font is quite catchy as it isn’t too much but it still catches the audience’s attention. The 3D effect on the writing helps it to stand out even

The title/ text is in 3D which makes it stand out more and easier to read, especially because the title is also in dark colours, not creating a contrast of colour.

The writing isn’t too big but it is in the centre of the frame, drawing all of the attention.

more and doesn’t make it look too boring. This links to the audience because teenagers need to have their attention grabbed by something in order for them to become interested, which is what the font in the trailer has achieved.

Colour:

The colours throughout the trailer all seem to be quite dark and plain. This could be reflecting what is going on as it might be quite a dark time. The colours still manage to capture the audience’s attention as it causes them to focus more on the surroundings and in the places which have light (controlling what they want the audience to notice).
