• The first time I used Photoshop was to create my school magazine. I was very unsure of what all the little icons meant and so I received a lot of help from my teacher. I also used YouTube to help; I watched short tutorials that would enable me to use the basic tools effectively. The end product was satisfactory but not excellent. I was a newbie with Photoshop and so was not capable of creating a brilliant product.

• I had never edited photos before and so again, this was a new concept for me. I used PhotoShop to edit the photos I had chosen to use from my photo shoot. I received a lot of help from my teacher and my peers and I eventually began to work out the tools I needed to create the image I was after. If I was to go back and create another magazine, I would be more able to get straight into working on and editing photos because I would have a whole lot more experience in that area. My Photoshop skills have definitely improved throughout the process of editing photos. My editing skills have definitely improved since doing the school magazine.

• When it came to actually making my music magazine, I felt more comfortable with that technology and so I could use Photoshop a lot more effectively, making better use of the opportunities it offers. I experimented a lot more with my designs because I knew how to and I wanted to explore my options. It is evident from the finished product that I have improved my Photoshop skills from the beginning of this course up until now, as my finished music magazine is extremely more sophisticated and just better looking in general than my school magazine.

• Like PhotoShop I had never used InDesign either and so at first I found it extremely difficult to use. Although my school magazine contents page is not awful, it does not look very professional either, I think that there is a clear difference between my school magazine and my music magazine and that will be down to experience. I had gained much more experience in using these types of software and so when it came to creating the music magazine contents page, I was able to create a much more effective and impacting page.
