Pablo Picasso
Picasso is typically known for his famous paintings. However, in 1949 he did a series of light drawings using long shutter speeds. This allowed him to create abstract drawings by using a torch. He worked in a dark environment with a small electric torch to produce the perfect lines. It was in 1949 Picasso was introduced to Gjon Mili, who worked for LIFE magazine. He had previously taken photos of ice skaters with lights attached to their skates, as they jumped and skated. This is what inspired Picasso.
Black and White Editing
For the Black and White photos I had to lowers the exposure slightly and lower the saturation to try and re create Picasso’s work.
By adjusting the gamma correction, I made the background darker. This made the light stand out more.
However, I left some of the studio visible, much like Picasso did in the majority of his photos.
